HOMELESSNESS IS DEVASTATING COMMUNITIES nationwide but nowhere more than in Los Angeles. We now have more than 59,000 men, women, and children living on Skid Row and throughout Los Angeles County each day. We see our precious neighbors devastated by homelessness as people in great need of God’s love.
That’s why we embrace each person with the compassion of Christ. Because when the light of Christ shines through us, lives are changed — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Please download a copy of our Annual Report and see how you and others are making a difference in the lives of God’s people.
Thank you & God bless you!
REV. ANDY BALES
Chief Executive Officer
At Union Rescue Mission, we embrace men, women, and children devastated by homelessness with the compassion of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to give them hope and healing for a changed life – and help them find their way home.
Please take a look at some of the levels of service we offered in 2018.
URM is one of the nation’s largest providers of continuous emergency shelter services.
We are also one of the only organizations in Los Angeles that offer help for single men, single women, single mothers with children, single fathers with children, two-parent families, and even families with teenaged children devastated by homelessness.
Union Rescue Mission is committed to helping individuals overcome the addictions and other issues that have devastated their lives. We offer the first step to recovery through one of the following life-transformation programs:
CHRISTIAN LIFE DISCIPLESHIP PROGRAM: Union Rescue Mission’s year-long plan doesn’t just focus on one part of a man’s life; we believe it’s important to affect his entire life – physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and social.
GATEWAY PROJECT: The Gateway Project is a program designed for single men and women who need more than our Emergency Services to get back on their feet but cannot or do not need our long term programs.
HOPE GARDENS FAMILY CENTER: No child should be raised on the dangerous, unforgiving streets of Los Angeles. We are the only mission on Skid Row to create a satellite facility, Hope Gardens Family Center, specifically designed for women and children. Through the Hope Gardens Family Program, single mothers gain the skills and necessary resources to recover from past trauma while planning for the future and preparing to maintain permanent housing.
